Hello ankit

in the template, you'll find something like this:

.date-header {

and one of the *** will be
margin 1.5em 0 2.0em; (or similar to this)

now increase the first value, that is 1.5 to 1.75 or 2

Hello Ankit,

You'll find something similar to this in the template;

.post h3 a, .post h3 a:visited, .post h3 strong {
background: #ffffff url("") no-repeat;
line-height: 2.5em;
margin:0 50 .75em;

The bolded line may/may not be there, so add it, and in place of the image-link in italics, add any image you want to !

Is it possible to transfer posts from one blog to another ?

Yup certainly ankit,
if you want to shift from blogger to blogger, then easiest way is to change the domain name itself.

Or you can use this export/import method:

And to go from blogger to wordpress etc. use this method:

Allure said...

I have a huge problem.. IE can't view my blog..only firefox can..Emailed to blogger forum but no replies...Can someone please help?

Divya Sai said...

Hi Allure

There's too much of javascripting in your blog, even before your <html> and <head>, you have kept some scripting, this all will definitely affect the loading time etc., and moreover IE being more lame than firefox, it completely fails to load your blog.

Remove all javascript files/code from your blog, which you think are un-neccessary.
That's it !

How to convert

<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src=""></script>

into html ?

Perry said...

Stumbled upon your website through a google search and now i think this was the best thing ever happened to me since i started blogging.
As mentioned above regarding placement of adslots in blogger, you have mentioned the code above but there is no mention of where to place it ?
Help me with that.
Also i have joined performancing ads and dont know how place them in my blog ! They provide java scripts .

Divya Sai said...

Hi Perry,

Can you be specific about which code are you talking about, and in general for any ad-code, do this:

Go to Layout -> click on "Add a Gadget" and select "HTML/JavaScript" type, and then paste the ad code in to the widget.

Then save the widget. And finally drag the widget wherever you want in the template.

Ankit said...

What about my query ?

Divya Sai said...

Why do you want to do it Ankit....their data is dynamically shown through javascript, if you are ready to upload new images regularly, then simply save their image(no. of followers badge) occasionally and show it on your blog with a simple html-img tag.

Perry said...

Thanks for such a prompt reply.
Never expected it !
The thing is i use to host my website and recently have joined performancing ads. The problem is i want to place 4 125by125 ads in my sidebar i.e in form of 2x2 box ( want to know how to make such widgets ). For doing this i searched for some tutorial and came to know about this site. I tried to customize my template but to no avail.
A help to put the ads correctly would be highly appreciated.

Divya Sai said... actually depends on your website (sidebar's width), presently I am considering that it's width is more than 250px.
And there many ways to do this, but I always keep things simple, so here's a simple table with 2 columns and 2 rows, place ads in them:

So use this code:

<table border="1"><tr>
<th align="center" width="130" height="130">Your Ad Banner 1</th>
<th align="center" width="130" height="130">Your Ad Banner 2</th>
<td align="center" width="130" height="130">Your Ad Banner 3</td>
<td align="center" width="130" height="130">Your Ad Banner 3</td>

Ankit said...

Actually I want to add it along with feedburner count...see my that you can know my prob exactly.

@ Marty,
In any template, including the one you are presently using, you can remove the dates, read the tutorial here:

@My Space,
When I visited your blog, I saw that you are using "Notepad" template, in which instead of date (near the post title), "undefined" is being shown, simply go to "Settings" -> "Formatting" -> and change the "Date Header Format" to "July XX, 2009" or something else...

hi there, i have been recently joined here, uzed some of your hacks and tips, hacks worked fine but search engine optimization doesn't work, can i edit my labels?webmaster tool specified some broken links but i can't seems to find them on my pages. what should i do???

please pay me a visit at

Divya Sai said...

In GWT, it would be showing that your labels cannot be indexed by Google, that is because in Blogger labels are purposely blocked from being indexed so that an important SEO error of content duplication is avoided. Don't worry it's normal, and actually good for you.

a big problem occured, i used your trick to show only titles of posts in archives, it worked fine and looked kool, but in fact, we only have posts on first page, in older posts, we get the same titles only, quite embarrasing now. what should i do????? any solution to keep that hack to archives only??? maybe any if condition, anyways thanks for all of your hard work

umasri said...

I have been uploaded one layout and in that i have leftnav pages like HOME, ABOUT, PORTFOLIO, CONTACTS. but these pages are not activated while clicking the pages. please give suggestions regarding this.
My Blog id:

Sai said...

Yes, through that hack the older posts links will be displayed as titles only. If most of your titles are self-explanatory, then it's fine as readers know where they have to go.
This is mainly done, so that those pages will load quickly and readers do not have to wait long, and moreover this also avoids the SEO error content duplication.

If you want to some summary of the posts too, then you can remove this code, provided you have the "Read More" hack in most of your posts. Or you can put the "automatic Read More" hack too.

@ Umasri
Presently on your blog, what you have are only words (Home, Contact etc.) which are linked to your blog. Write 3 new posts with titles "About Me", "Portfolio" and "Contact Me/Us" without the double-quotes. And publish these posts just as you have published the previous posts. Now when then posts are displayed ni your blog, copy their addresses (url) and link those words below your header (Home, Portfolio etc.) with these pages. When you will write more posts, these 3 posts will be hidden but always will be linked from the top-linklist of your blog.

Hello! I really really need help! My pics ALL get cut - why is that and how can I make blogspot show them properly? Thanks a lot!

Divya Sai said...

According to the width of your blog-pot area, fix the width of images too.
So whiling using an image, fix it's width to 400px, like this:
<img src="" width="400"/>

Frau Mayer said...

Oh, wow, it worked! However, now I'm trying to change the width of my entire blog cause the pics don't really look better :( Pls take a look!
 and THANKS!"

Divya Sai said...

Along with width, in your blog, the height of the images is also fixed, for ex: in the first image, width is 400px and height is 719px, so delete that code for height and only fix width.
If you still want to make the blog wider, then make these changes:

change this:
<pre>#header-wrapper {
margin:0 auto 10px;
border:1px solid #cccccc;

to this:
<pre>#header-wrapper {
margin:0 auto 10px;
border:1px solid #cccccc;

And change this code:
#outer-wrapper {
width: 660px;
margin:0 auto;
font: normal normal 100% Georgia, Times, serif;
#main-wrapper {
width: 410px;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
#sidebar-wrapper {
width: 220px;
float: right;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */

To this:

#outer-wrapper {
width: 960px;
margin:0 auto;
font: normal normal 100% Georgia, Times, serif;
#main-wrapper {
width: 710px;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
#sidebar-wrapper {
width: 220px;
float: right;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */

#blog-pager-older-link {

#blog-pager {

To read:
#blog-pager-newer-link {

#blog-pager-older-link {

#blog-pager {

But, the links still won't show!

If you could take a look & let me know what I'm missing it would be so greatly appreciated.

Thank you soooooooooo much!

Hi Divya Sai,

This is really great post.

Almost I have spent more than 2 hours :-)

Great work.. Thanks for all ur tips.

Divya Sai said...

Great to know that....but actually I havn't listed all the posts in this post and I am planning to come up with round ups...pls subscribe to this blog if you want to get those updates :)

The template presently being used by you is highly customised and the parameters used are also different from the default ones(used by Blogger), so that will be quite difficult for me to edit it.
Although it may be quite boring for you, but you may search new template from these sites:

Hi, thanks for all..
Please how i can add second posts (Articles) column to my blog?
please help me

couldn't get your query exactly....can you please rephrase it?

Zizo said...

Hi, thanks for replay.
my template have one column of posts and i want to add second post column like this site, how i can do it? thank you

Sai @ Blogger Help said...

Hi Zizo,

From the example site you have shown, it means you just don't need an extra sidebar, but now the sidebars should be of varying widths and on the same side too.
So whichever tutorial you follow, make you backup your template first (download the template)

First of all the easiest way I suggest you to switch to a new template with 3 may search new templates here:

If you do not to switch to a new template, then I will recommend you to read and follow this tutorial:

But again, make sure you have downloaded a copy of your present template and also have taken a backup of your widgets.

If you plan to change your template, then read this tutorial too:

Sai @ Blogger Help said...

The files linked from your blog, are all invalid links, check them yourself:

You have to upload these files again and link them in your template.

I used blogskins template, so how can i add RSS Feed ?

Divya Sai said...

RSS Feed doesn't depend on templates, go to and burn your feed (by entering your blog ul-address) to get your new feedburner feed-link.

I run a sports blog. when i post a post about (say) English Premier league i should get an small english flag image to the title of the post(probaby i n the beginning of title) . I would have included the EPL as a label for that post. Similarly if i post a post about spanish league (with label as spanish league) then that appropriate flag must be displayed. Is this possible? If so please explain the steps fully.

thanks and regards

Divya Sai said...

Well that's not possible, labels of a post are not reflected in the url of that post, so I don't think it is possible to show label specific icons against titles.

Divya Sai said...

Hey Christian, I found a way for doing that (showing label specific icons below post titles), the tutorial will be live within a day :) Hope it'll benefit your blog.

Hi and thanks for all these tips. I have two questions hoping you might have answers for:
First question:
I have my own website and want to link to my blogspot, but target a particular blog. Any tips on how to do this?
Second question:
I add a new blog every day or two, but would like to change the hierarchy so that no only date is the sorter. Anyone know any way to change the hierarchy decider?
Thanks loads

Divya Sai said...

Hi spaniahus,
kindly rephrase your sentences as I couldn't get either of your queries...
In your second question do you mean "you add blogs daily" or "you add posts daily"?

Bas van Vlierden said...

Thanks a lot for these very helpfull tips & tricks.
I was that close to switch my website from blogger to wordpress some days ago.
But the last few days this website showed my a new Blogger world of possibilities.
Thanks for that!

If you have any advice of tips on my website i'm very eager to hear so.

Divya Sai said...

@Bas van Vlierden

Glad I could help you buddy!
According to your present homepage, I would advise you to have a gallery type layout for the homepage - You can show more products in that layout, as you are already maintaining fixed size windows for displaying the posts.

Bas van Vlierden said...

Thanks for your advise. Is there already a post on this website how to change the layout. Because I don't really know.

Sai @ Blogger Help said...

Yes buddy, I already have tutorial for that, read the fourth point in General Hacks For Templates (first category).

spaniahus said...

@Divya Sai
Thanks for the quick reply. It was rather confusing, yes.
Question 1:
I have my own website and I want to make some links to posts in my blog. Is it possible to target a particular post, rather than the whole blog?
Question 2:
I add a new post (as well as new blogs with different subject matter) each day or two, and would like to change the hierarchy so that it is not just "most recent" or "oldest" that determines which order the post appear. It is possible to group together posts under a heading, or subset, etc?

Thanks you for your patience.

Divya Sai said...

1. Yes simply copy the url of any post and link it from any widget present on your website.
You can see the examples in this blog (BloggerStop) too: my about and contact pages are simple posts written 2 years ago. I have linked them from my top page-nav menu.

PS: As blogger has recently launched its static-pages feature, so better use this feature.

2. Well you can group posts using the recent posts widget, but instead of your blog feed url, use blog feed url + any of your blog label/category/tag. (So all your posts in the category say, "carport" will be shown in a particular widget)

Tutorial for recent posts widget.

Default feed url to be used in the widget is this:

but label specific feed-url will be this one:

So, instead of LabelName, you can use "carport" in a widget and some other label in another widget.

Now make some widgets specific for your famous categories/labels and show these widgets only in the homepage, by using this hack:
How to show widgets only in homepage, or all posts or only in a specific page

maybe you can help me!
I am having a major issue with blog.
It is placing the Comments link and "Posted by" at the top of each post just under the title, instead of at the end of the post. I have tried everything to move it. I've tried altering and saving it again and again and nothing works. Also, it's not showing the date of the post. Even though I have that box checked. well you can see what i mean:
I am beyond frustrated. I have yet to find anyone else with this same issue. HELP!

Divya Sai said...

Hey Lorelei,

You are at the correct place, to get your problem fixed. Send me your template through my contact page, and I'll tell you what exactly you have to change in your blog.

Where do I go to find out how to sign in to my blog again? It's been many months since I did so, and I have changed my email address and have forgotten my password. The instructions google gives do not work. There is no telephone number or specific way to email google about the problem, is there? Thanks for any help!

Divya Sai said...

Simply sign-in using your Google email-id/password.
but instead of signing in at, sign in at

@divya sai
Dont know if my other message got sent yesterday. I am having trouble using the "static pages" bit of blogger. The pages tab doesnt come up in the menu in draft mode, but I have checked the box the use the latest editor, as instructed. I have a PowerBook G4 with MacOS 10.5.8 and use firefox 3.5.7, could this be a problem?

Divya Sai said...

No, I haven't got any mail/comment from you on this issue earlier. Anyways, first of all try out some other browser, if that doesn't help, then do this;
your edit posts link looks like this:*******

so copy that url and change it like this:*******

i.e. keeping other things exactly the same, just change posts.g to pages.g

Hope that helps you !

Thanks for all of the information you post. I have used a lot of your posts to build my site and am now trying to get it out there on the net. I'm having trouble with keywords and getting noticed by search engines. If you could offer any help that would be great.

Divya Sai said...

I am so glad to know that Hank :)

Just make sure your blog keeps the search engines happy. Follow blogs and my own posts on SEO:

And make sure you publish regular, rich and frequent posts on your blog. If your readers are happy then the SEs will be happy too ;)

Divya Sai said...

If your blog is really new in the www, then ask your friends to give you some one-way backlinks and also register at some reputed web-directories where linking back to them is not necessary.

@Carlisle Daily News,

Instead of the phrases, Your Ad Banner 1, Your Ad Banner 2 etc.
put the code for the banner/images linked to websites.
like this:
