Choose only any one [ www or non-www ]

You would have seen some websites/web pages with www while some without it. For most of the readers, it doesn't make any difference, actually they may not even notice it most of the times. But for search engines, it matters a lot. Search engines like Google, consider them as separate web pages or web sites. That means, when someone links to your website, as he may/may not use the www prefix to the link, so according to that the PR juice will be distributed between the www and non-www versions of your same original blog/website, moreover as search engines consider them as separate web pages, so your blog may get penalized for duplicate content issues :) that's true...

So to avoid these issues, go to Google and tell it's bot to consider both the www and non-www versions are same for your blog:
Follow these steps:

1. If you already have your account in "Google Webmaster Tools", and have submitted your blog's sitemap, then proceed or else read and add the sitemap to Google first.
2. Now once your account is active, then go to Settings Page, and in the "Preferred Domain" section, select any one radio button, as you like [either www or non-www]

For more information, regarding this, you can read the direct instructions from Google - Here

Top EntreCard Droppers Widget For Blogger/BlogSpot Blogs

If you want consistent visitors and EC droppers from EntreCard, then you must return the favor to the top droppers, although you can simply go to your Drop-Inbox and give a drop in return, but it may not easily grab their attention towards you. So you can use this simple widget on your blog (place it near the Entrecard widget), so that droppers can easily have a look at it, and they will add your blog to their favorites.

To add a EC Top droppers widget, follow these steps:
Log in to Entrecard.com, in the dash board, click on "More Stats" link, as shown in the image below.

Now "Copy The Link location/shortcut" of the "Top Card Droppers Feed Link", as shown in the picture below.

Now, Log in to Blogger, and go to Layout -> Add a Gadget -> Feed

Then add (paste) the feed link, that you already have copied from the EntreCard account. Save the widget, that's it !
Now enjoy the increase in the number of EC droppers :)

Google PageRank Updated - 31st December 2008

As expected the Google PageRank update has finally been made, in the last week of December-2008, so this is the last Google PageRank update of year 2008. For many blogs I hope this would be a great start of the new year, and for others it may add one more task in their new year resolution: to improve their PR in the next year - 2009 first update :)

For my blog, a PageRank of 2 has been given, although not a big number but I am happy with it, as right now, my blog is just 3 months old and I hope to make improve it by next update, moreover other than the Homepage a few other pages have also got PageRanks of 1 and 2, that makes me 'feel better' !

If you have not installed the Google toolbar (with PageRank enabled),then to check your blog's/website's pagerank you can visit this page:
PRChecker.Info

And if you want to display Google PageRank in your website/blog, check out these new display buttons.

Create a Google Look-Alike Logo For Your Website or Blog

Here's a small post for those webmasters and bloggers or anyone who is a Google fan, and want to have his name, or his blog's, website's or company's name in the way Google Logo appears. As you can see in the image, I have made a logo for my blog's name.

Just visit this website:
GogLogo.com

Enter the text, and hit Enter, that's it !

Although you cannot save the final image as it is, because it is made by combining different letters, so to save the logo, take a screenshot [PrtScr] from your keyboard, go to Microsoft Paint (MS Paint), and paste and save it !

Fonts In BlogSpot/Blogger Blogs

You can use any font in your blog, but it's of no use if your readers do not have that particular font installed on their computers (as they will see that same text in their font i.e Arial/Times New Roman), for example:
If you use any XY font on your blog, which you have already installed in your computer (and was not supplied with your operating system - Windows XP/Vista), then, the blog when opened in your computer, the text will be displayed in that "XY" font,
but if your readers do not have installed the same "XY" font in their computers, then the same text (from your blog) will be displayed in some other default font like Arial or Times New Roman.

So to avoid these problems, you should usually use only those fonts, which are available with Windows XP/Vista/7.

As fonts available in Blogger are much less than those supplied with XP or Vista, so you can these additional fonts too:

1. Comic Sans MS

Popular Posts Widgets For Blogger - New and Working

The previous widget for showing Popular posts (most commented), has been stopped working, so here's a new code for the widget.

Steps to follow:

Log in to Blogger
Go to Layout -> Add a Gadget -> HTML/JavaScript

Now copy and paste this code in to the widget:

Widget Style #1

<script type="text/javascript">
function pipeCallback(obj) {
document.write('<ul style="text-transform: capitalize;">');
var i;
for (i = 0; i < obj.count ; i++)
{
var href = "'" + obj.value.items[i].link + "'";
var item = "<li>" + "<a href=" + href + ">" + obj.value.items[i].title + "</a> </li>";
document.write(item);
}
document.write('</ul>');
}
</script>
<script src="http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.run?_render=json&_callback=pipeCallback&_id=28a6afad7c6ba1288c1b738277e42385&url=http%3A%2F%2FYOUR_BLOG_ADDRESS_HERE_WITHOUT_http://&num=10" type="text/javascript"></script>
<a href="http://bloggerstop.net" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">Popular Posts Widget</span></a>

NOTE: REPLACE everything in RED color in the code above with your blog's address without typing http://

The above code displays 10 posts, you can change it by editing the number being displayed in blue !

The above widget code, displays the links/titles like this:

Post one (18)
Post two (14) etc.

If you want to display them like this:

Post one (18 comments)
Post two (14 comments),

then use this code :

Widget Style #2

<script type="text/javascript">
function pipeCallback(obj) {
document.write('<ol style="text-transform: capitalize;">');
var i;
for (i = 0; i < obj.count ; i++)
{
var href = "'" + obj.value.items[i].link + "'";
var item = "<li>" + "<a href=" + href + ">" + obj.value.items[i].title + "</a> </li>";
document.write(item);
}
document.write('</ol>');
}
</script>
<script src="http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.run?_render=json&_callback=pipeCallback&_id=ML4p0UfW3RGgS7iN1JzWFw&url=http%3A%2F%2FYOUR_BLOG_ADDRESS_WITHOUT_http://&num=10" type="text/javascript"></script>
<span style="font-size: 80%">Widget by <a href="http://www.bloggerstop.net">Blogger Widgets </a></span>

And in case, you want to display the popular posts without the number of comments (as requested by Ben), use this code:

Widget Style #3

<script type="text/javascript">
function pipeCallback(obj) {
document.write('<ol style="text-transform: capitalize;">');
var i;
for (i = 0; i < obj.count ; i++)
{
var href = "'" + obj.value.items[i].link + "'";
var item = "<li>" + "<a href=" + href + ">" + obj.value.items[i].title + "</a> </li>";
document.write(item);
}
document.write('</ol>');
}

As you can see, most of the widgets explained in this blog are quite easy to understand and implement, so for this widget too, I have decided to explain the easier method.
I you want to display a widget, showing the latest posts of your blog, with a brief summary in the sidebar, or anywhere in the blog, then follow these steps to create it within minutes.

If you already have burnt your blog's feed with feedburner, then it' fine , if not then follow these 3 steps first:

1. Go to FeedBurner.com
2. Enter the address/url of your blog in the space provided and click on Next.

3. Now select the second radio button, and click on Next. And then click on Activate Feed, Now you can "Skip To Feed Management"

Those familiar with Feedburner, log in to it.
Then click on Publicize tab at the top, then click on the BuzzBoost Link in the left side bar links.

Now select the appropriate settings, and then click on "Activate" button, and then copy the HTML code in to your website. You can see the recent posts widget in my blog at the bottom left !

*Update:
If you are facing any problems in the widget described above, then use this one:

Log in to Blogger, go to Layout and click on "Add a Gadget", and select it as "HTML/JavaScript type".
Now add this code in to the widget:
<script>
function rp(json) {
document.write('<ul>');

for (var i = 0; i < numposts; i++) {
document.write('<li>');
var entry = json.feed.entry[i];
var posttitle = entry.title.$t;
var posturl;

if (i == json.feed.entry.length) break;

for (var k = 0; k < entry.link.length; k++) {
if (entry.link[k].rel == 'alternate') {
posturl = entry.link[k].href;
break;
}
}

posttitle = posttitle.link(posturl);
var readmorelink = "(more)";
readmorelink = readmorelink.link(posturl);
var postdate = entry.published.$t;
var cdyear = postdate.substring(0,4);
var cdmonth = postdate.substring(5,7);
var cdday = postdate.substring(8,10);
var monthnames = new Array();
monthnames[1] = "Jan";
monthnames[2] = "Feb";
monthnames[3] = "Mar";
monthnames[4] = "Apr";
monthnames[5] = "May";
monthnames[6] = "Jun";

monthnames[10] = "Oct";
monthnames[11] = "Nov";
monthnames[12] = "Dec";

if ("content" in entry) {
var postcontent = entry.content.$t;
} else if ("summary" in entry) {
var postcontent = entry.summary.$t;
} else
var postcontent = "";
var re = /<\S[^>]*>/g;
postcontent = postcontent.replace(re, "");
document.write(posttitle);

if (showpostdate == true) document.write(' - ' + monthnames[parseInt(cdmonth,10)] + ' ' + cdday);

if (showpostsummary == true) {
if (postcontent.length < numchars) {
document.write(postcontent);
} else {
postcontent = postcontent.substring(0, numchars);
var quoteEnd = postcontent.lastIndexOf(" ");
postcontent = postcontent.substring(0,quoteEnd);
document.write(postcontent + '...' + readmorelink);
}
}
document.write('</li>');
}
document.write('</ul>');

}
</script>

<script>
var numposts = 7;

How To Create A Multi-Tab Widget In BlogSpot/Blogger Blogs

*UPDATE: Three new multi tabbed widgets are added in this blog, the coding work is equally simple. So first have a look here:

New Multi-Tabbed Widgets For Blogger

One of the space efficient widget for blogs, is of course a multi-tabbed widget, which is almost a must for any blog. You can use it for Popular posts, Top commenters, Recent Posts, Recent Posts or any widget as you like.

Although you can find some other methods on Internet, but they are all quite confusing, so you can use this method, which is quite easy, but of course needs to tweak the template.

The complete process has mainly two steps:

1. Firstly, Log in to Blogger. Now go to Layout and then click on "Edit HTML" tab.
Then download the present template as a backup.
Now find [CTRL+F] this code:

]]></b:skin>

JUST BEFORE THIS CODE, paste the following code:

// Copyright (C) 2005 Ilya S. Lyubinskiy.
// All rights reserved.
// Technical support: http://www.php-development.ru/

div.TabView div.Tabs
{
height: 24px;
overflow: hidden;
}
div.TabView div.Tabs a
{
float: left;
display: block;
width: 90px; /* Width top main menu - Tab Buttons*/
text-align: center;
height: 24px; /* Height top main menu - Tab Buttons*/
padding-top: 3px;
vertical-align: middle;
border: 1px solid #000; /* Top Main menu border color */
border-bottom-width: 0;
text-decoration: none;
font-family: "Times New Roman", Serif; /* Top main menu font */
font-weight: 900;
color: #000; /* Top main menu font color */
}
div.TabView div.Tabs a:hover, div.TabView div.Tabs a.Active
{
background-color: #F4F4F4; /* Top main menu background color */
}
div.TabView div.Pages
{
clear: both;
border: 1px solid #6E6E6E; /* Content Border color */
overflow: hidden;
background-color: #FBF1A4; /* Content background color */
}
div.TabView div.Pages div.Page
{
height: 100%;
padding: 0px;
overflow: hidden;
}
div.TabView div.Pages div.Page div.Pad
{
padding: 3px 5px;
}
The text in red color are comments, for your help, as you can edit those numbers or color codes yourself, so that they can match your blog's layout.

Download this File: Tabview.zip
Then in your PC, unzip it (using Winzip or 7-Zip), and then upload it to MyDataNest.com, to get a DIRECT LINK to the file (Tabview.js).

Now find (CTRL+F) this in the template;
</Head>
And immediately BEFORE that paste this code
<script src='http://mydatanest.com/......./tabview.js' type='text/javascript'/>
Replace the link in RED, with the DIRECT LINK of the Tabview.js file

That's it, Now SAVE the template.

2. The second part is for positioning the widget (whether in sidebar, above/below the post body etc.)
For this, click on "Page Elements" tab, and then "Add a Gadget" wherever you like.

Select the widget of the type "HTML/JavaScript"

Now paste the following code in to the widget:
<form action="tabview.html" method="get">
<div class="TabView" id="TabView">
<div class="Tabs" style="width: 350px;">
<a>Tab 1</a>
<a>Tab 2</a>
<a>Tab 3</a>
</div>
<div class="Pages" style="width: 350px; height: 250px;">

<div class="Page">
<div class="Pad">
Content 1.1 <br />
Content 1.2 <br />
Content 1.3 <br />
</div>
</div>

<div class="Page">
<div class="Pad">
Content 2.1 <br />
Content 2.2 <br />
Content 2.3 <br />
</div>
</div>

<div class="Page">
<div class="Pad">
Content 3.1 <br />
Content 3.2 <br />
Content 3.3 <br />
</div>
</div>

</div>
</div>
</form>

<script type="text/javascript">
tabview_initialize('TabView');
</script><span>widget by<a href="http://bloggerstop.net"> BloggerStop</a></span>
You can change the colored content as per your wish, and to remove or add any further tabs,
Either delete Tab3 line, and 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 lines
or Add Tab 4 and 4.1 etc lines.

Save the widget, drag and change it's position if you want.

Easily Moderate Comments In BlogSpot Blogs by eMail Moderation

If you have enabled comment moderation, then the comments to be moderated will be displayed in your Blogger Home/Dashboard, from where it is difficult to identify where exactly the comments are made, and it sometimes become very frustrating.

So instead of moderating by this method, you can use eMail moderation system, which is a lot convenient, as by this method, whenever a new comment is made on any post, you will receive a mail, with complete comment, commenter's profile link and MOST IMPORTANTLY the article/post's link where the comment has been made, so it becomes very easy to moderate by this method.

To enable eMail comment moderation, follow these steps:
Log in to your Blogger account
Go to settings and then click on "Comments" tab.
Then in front of "Comment moderation" select the radio button "Never"

Now scroll down to bottom of the page, and enter your mail address in the appropriate place, as shown in the picture below, that's it !

To add this widget to your blog, log in to Blogger
Go to Layout -> Add a Gadget -> HTML/JavaScript type, then add this code to it.

<script style="" src="http://files.main.bloggerstop.net/uploads/3/0/2/5/3025338/recentpostsscrollerv2.js"> </script><script style=""> var nMaxPosts = 15; var sBgColor; var nWidth; var nScrollDelay = 175; var sDirection="left"; var sOpenLinkLocation="N"; var sBulletChar="»»"; </script> <script style="" src="http://Yourblog.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=json-in-script&amp;callback=RecentPostsScrollerv2"> </script>

How to display or show comment-author's profile image in Blogger/BlogSpot blogs

Here's another useful tip for those bloggers, who are continuously trying to transform their free BlogSpot blogs into a pro-blog.
Through this hack, within 10 minutes you can start showing the images of commentators/comment-authors in your blog.

See the image below; how it will look after tweaking the HTML default code

To do so, first of all log in to Blogger
Now go to Layout, then click on Edit HTML tab.
Now Download the present template as a back up
Then click on "Expand widget templates"

Now search (CTRL+F) this

</head>

Immediately BEFORE IT, paste this:

<!--COMMENT-AUTHOR-PICTURE-STARTS--><script src='http://dsai.588.googlepages.com/blogger_comment_author_photos.js' type='text/javascript'/>
<script type='text/javascript'>
//<![CDATA[
addLoadEvent(function(){showCommentPhotos('commentphoto','comment-author', 1);});
//]]>
</script><!--COMMENT-AUTHOR-PICTURE-STOPS-->

NOW see this code below:

<dl id='comments-block'>
<b:loop values='data:post.comments' var='comment'>
<dt class='comment-author' expr:id='"comment-" + data:comment.id'>
<div class='commentphoto' style='float:right;'/>
<a expr:name='"comment-" + data:comment.id'/>
<b:if cond='data:comment.authorUrl'>
<a expr:href='data:comment.authorUrl' rel='nofollow'><data:comment.author/></a>
<b:else/>
<data:comment.author/>
</b:if>
<data:commentPostedByMsg/>
</dt>
<dd class='comment-body'>
<b:if cond='data:comment.isDeleted'>
<span class='deleted-comment'><data:comment.body/></span>
<b:else/>
<p><data:comment.body/></p>
</b:if>
</dd>
<dd class='comment-footer'>
<span class='comment-timestamp'>
<a expr:href='"#comment-" + data:comment.id' title='comment permalink'>
<data:comment.timestamp/>
</a>
<b:include data='comment' name='commentDeleteIcon'/>
</span>
</dd>
<div style='clear:both;'/>
</b:loop>
</dl>
In the code above YOU HAVE TO INSERT code lines shown in BLUE and BOLDED
And the red ones, are those which you can use as markers, BEFORE whom you have to paste the blue code lines.

You can change the position of pictures or images from Right to Light, by changing it in the first blue line in the code above...
Now whenever, people use their gmail or openid account to comment, then their pictures will be displayed alongside the comments !<>
