Add An MP3 Music Player To Your BlogSpot Blog

Demo of the player is a floating bar at the bottom of this page

Songs used in Demo (autoplay enabled):
1. Airtel Theme
2. Hutch Ringtone

The previous embeddable MP3 player discussed on BloggerStop had many limitations and was quite complicated in terms of customizing it.

So this tutorial will help you to add a customized music player and create your own playlist. The first 2 steps of this tutorial will let you add the songs to your blog (Repeat these steps whenever you want to add more songs to your blog/posts), and step #3 will add a floating MP3 player to your blog.

For this tutorial you will have to open an account here:
1. OpenDrive (online storage).

STEP #1:
Upload songs (MP3 files) to your newly registered OpenDrive account,
right click on the file and then click on the hyperlink "links" as shown in the screenshot below:

Then copy the "DIRECT LINK" (Streaming) to that file.

STEP #2:
Now, paste it as a hyperlink in to your blog:
1. Either paste it in the sidebar (Blogger -> Design -> Page Elements -> "Add a Gadget -> HTML/JavaScript") to play the songs site-wide,
2. Or paste it in a blog-post (anywhere in the post), if you want to play the songs only in a particular post.
(List all the songs you want to play as these hyperlinks)

The hyperlinks to the songs should look like this:
<a href="http://DIRECT_LINK_TO_SONG_1" style="display:none;">Song_1_Title</a>
<a href="http://DIRECT_LINK_TO_SONG_2" style="display:none;">Song_2_Title</a>

Replace the links highlighted in RED with the DIRECT LINKS you got from OpenDrive in STEP #1.
The code style="display:none;" will hide the hyperlinks (song titles). If you want to show the links to your visitors, then delete the code highlighted in BLUE, before saving the widget/post.

STEP #3
Finally, to play these songs we will add the floating MP3 player to the blog.
Go to this page: StreamPad

And click on the Blogger logo:

Before copying the code, go to the bottom of the page:
And customize the player as you want: Enable Autoplay, change colors, Allow popout etc.

Finally copy the code from Step 5 in that page.
If the code in Step 5 does not get updated when you customize the options, then simply use this code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://o.aolcdn.com/art/merge?f=/_media/sp/sp-player.js&f=/_media/sp/sp-player-blogger.js&expsec=86400&ver=11&clicktext=Click%20to%20Play%20the%20DEMO%20Song&showplaylist=false&showplaylistbutton=true&autoplay=true&showpop=true&popup=false"></script>

Change the values highlighted in RED from true to false or vice-versa And paste that code in to your blog:
Go to Blogger -> Design -> Page Elements -> Add a Gadget -> HTML/JavaScript"
Paste the code and save widget.

NOTE 1 (Important): In case you want to "show" this widget only in a single post or in a group of posts, then instead of pasting the above code in the sidebar widget, paste it inside the post (anywhere in the post) where you want to display the widget (floating bar MP3 player).
NOTE 2: If you paste the code in the sidebar, then the bar is shown across all the pages on your blog and wherever (either the sidebar/blog posts) songs are detected, it will be added to the floating bar as long as the visitor remains in a particular page.
NOTE 3: As an alternative MP3 player, you may try the media Player from Yahoo (with Video support) instead of the one from Streampad (in step #3).

This widget can detect all the links to songs on any page (which you have already added in STEP #2 of this tutorial) and will start playing them as a playlist, in a floating bar from the bottom of the page.

Now sit back & Let The Music Play

haha Dsai the music was interesting and that pop styled yo-man looked cool too. I will surely try it.

I have two questions Dsai that are very important for me,

1.Can I just buy a new domain without changing my hosting service (which is blogger)? Plz answer this one in detail

2. I have submitted all my sitemaps to google but still google has indexed just my homepage with three other internal pages. I have written more than 40 posts why isn't google indexing them. My status only shows one link in webmaster tools.

Yes of course Mohammad you can do it...you may read this post & it's comments, they are quite in detail...
http://bloggerstop.net/2008/10/get-domain-unlimited-hosting-and.html

Regarding your webmasters a/c, the frequency of indexing your blog will inc with increasing popularity of your blog, so you just need to wait a few days.
BTW, congrats for your blog's review at BlogsWithWings.com, you are already on the correct path !

Dsai, I have already read that post and have re-read it. Tell me one thing are you using blogger as your host or 10n1? Well encourage me whether I should or should not change my hosting with blogger?

And yeh the review was really encouraging :D

Dsai many people have linked to my blog even blogger accessories but when I write link:http://tnt-by-stc.blogspot.com in google serach box I only get 6 links which does not show a link from blogger accessories, now techieblogger.com and neither one from you.
Whats wrong?

Well I have only bought my domain from 1and1 and I have my blog hosted at blogger only.
If you want to enjoy the plug-ins of WP, then you should shift to WP, presently I am quite comfortable with Blogger, and so I am continuing with it.

And regarding the linkbacks....well all i can say is understanding the Google's algo is really difficult ;)

Reply

No matter which player you use, the loading will mainly depend on the size of the media (song, video etc.)
Use software to shrink the size of your song files, then upload and link it. Please note that while reducing the size of your files, quality too decreases to some extent.

In your datanest account, go to the folder where you have uploaded the file (just click on "my files" link in the top menu).
Then in the list of files (songs etc.) right click on the song/file of your choice and click on "copy link location" or "copy link address", i.e. the direct link to that file.

Plays in all browsers now.
Working example if you want to judge before deciding.

I have made some playlists with MixPod in order to export them in my blog :
http://damaoplayliist.blogspot.com/

But I realised that the imported playlists in the blog (in the side bar of the blog) does'nt work => when i am on my blog with firefox, and when i click on the "play" button of the imported playlists, nothing happen...the songs don't play. It doesn't work.
But when i visit my blog with internet explorer, it works sometimes !

I don't know why there is a problem, and I have tried everythings to make the playlists working, but I didn't succeeded.

Could you help me and try to see where is the problem. On the code source???

thank you very much.

So I've got a bit of an issue. Or I don't really know what the issue is I'm afraid..

I try to load a music file onto the streampad. It's around 9mb, so I expect some loading time, but it just never starts. I tried both OpenDrive and MyDataNest, and while MDN seems a bit faster in loading when I access the direct link, they both play within seconds. I get the played to load, and the link to the file is okay, but nothing happens.

The blogs address is: http://sacred-emptiness.blogspot.com/

Any and all help is much appreciated. :)

@Major.Mack,

May be there's some code-donflict in your template. You may try the player from Yahoo:

i am having an issue, i added the code in side bar as widget html, and i can see floating bar at bottom of my website, but when i navigate to second post on my blog, song stops playing, and bar reloads, IS it possible that songs keeps playing as long people navigating different posts on my blog?

No that is not possible as far as the code lies in your template.
I am not sure, but you can try pop-ups - a popup with the codes for both the player and the song, but most probably the pop-up 'll be blocked by most of your readers' internet browsers and more importantly many people do not like pop-ups.

You do not have the option to shuffle the songs in this player or in the yahoo one. For that, Use the MP3 widget from this site: www.podsnack.com

If I want to use this, does it have to post the thumbnail of the song/the open drive player just so it can be played in streampad. I've tried putting it in the gadgets but I don't want there to permanently be a music thumbnail picture on my page.

As mentioned in the post (STEP #2), you can hide the song links/thumbnails from the page by using that code highlighted in blue:
style="display:none;"
while adding the links to the songs.

CAN I DO THIS WITHOUT OPEN THE ACCOUNT ??????

Reply

May 22, 2011 11:51 AM delete

No, opening an account is necessary, as you will have to host your songs somewhere on the web which provide you with direct download (streaming) links.
Don't worry, it's a free account.

Hey there,

You have copied some other link to the song, it's NOT a direct link. I think you copied the link to the MP3 player provided by Opendrive, so copy the correct link (DIRECT-STREAMING link) and it will work.

Hey! I have a question! Works perfectly but... There is anyway the song can play continuously after you change page of the blog. Is that possible? I just need a full song to play around some gallery of images. Maybe you can helo me?
That was awesome, thanks a lot!

Well for that, use a pop-up window (although it may not be liked by everyone and may be blocked by some too)
Put both your song and player in that player, so now even if the page is changed in the blog the pop-up will keep playing the song.

I need help! I followed the instructions, uploaded the files and linked to them. The player shows up at the bottom of the page, and it is finding the files, cause the names are showing up, and when you press play, the progress bar shows it is playing, and the volume is up, but there is no sound.

Hi

I want to mp3 links on the page and played in the bar. But if show and clicked it redirect the page to the player.

February 21, 2012 8:23 PM delete

I found that the simplest thing to do was to upload my mp3 to OpenDrive and then copy the OpenDrive player as the "HTML Embeded" and save it to my Blogger page adding the HTML/Javascript gadget to the very bottom. Changing the autoplay from false to true starts the song automatically. I hope this helped someone.
