The easiest way to turn your first time visitor in to a regular and returning visitor is to greet them personally. This widget shows a different greeting message to your visitors depending on their referrer url. You would have seen messages like these in many of the wordpress blogs (but may be not in Blogger blogs):

The purpose of adding this widget to your blog:
* Greet your visitors with a reference to the site from which they came
* Request them to subscribe for your blog
* Request them to stumble or tweet your post and invite them for a long term professional relationship
Instructions to add this widget:
The best position for this widget is just above your post-title. Log in to Blogger -> Layout -> Add a Gadget and select it as "HTML/JavaScipt"
Now paste this code in to it:
<script src="http://bloggergreetbox.googlecode.com/files/TextToBeDisplayedDiv-minv3.0.js"NOTE: Before saving the widget, replace the link in RED with the feed url of your own blog.

There's some problem in your default feed, which is this one:
http://nanoguns9.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
Go to Settings -> Site Feed and in the field against Post feed redirect url type your feedburner feed url. Hope this will help you.
And yeah update your feedburner link from feeds.feedburner.com/...
to this one
feeds2.feedburner.com/...
wow. very very nice widget. i added it to my blog. one question though theres no option to exit out of the widget like you have in your examples. Like there is no X in the corner. any tips
I have updated the code a few hours ago, so the present code in the post above does have a button to close. Please try it agian. The image closebutton.gif is the button (X) being used.
@Kytro
Just checked your blog, you are presently using the previous code without a closing button. Simply replace that code with this new one and that button will appear.
That's cool.......
ok thanks
thanks so much it worked perfectly
Hi Divya
I've been using a widget like that on my blog LeBlogger.com since 3 or 4 months. It's shown for Google and Yahoo search only.
I'm planning to make a new version of that widget and will let u know :))
You guys rock!!! ;)
Thanks for sharing this.I have added this greet box to my blog
thanks for posting. I've tried this by entering the code into my blog ikhsan blog
Hey Sai,
I am impressed with your widget, but is there a way that you could give us a bit more control over what's being displayed, like maybe a custom icon and a way to style the box to match our blog's style?
Yes that is possible Uriah, but quite complicated:
edit this file:
http://bloggergreetbox.googlecode.com/files/TextToBeDisplayedDiv-minv3.0.js
in the code above and upload it to mudatanest.com and then change the present link with the new direct link (to the modified file)
very useful tips.. expecting lot more from you. I m going to use this in targethappiness.blogspot.com
Thanks Sai,
I downloaded that file and I'm currently working on customizing it for my own needs. When I'm finished I'll add it to my blog at www.intothebook.net and show it to you.
Cheers,
Uriah
Hey Sai,
I've just got one problem...I just can't get an externally hosted javascript file to work...could you help me with that? I tried both using Wuala and MyDataNest, both of which allow direct file hosting...but no luck. I'll let you know if I have any luck.
