The Best SERP Tool Ever | SEO For Blogs

If you are new to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), then SERP or ‘Search Engine Results Page’ is simply the search-results page that is returned to a user when s/he searches something on the Internet (Google/Yahoo etc.), and that “something” is the “keyword” or the “key phrase”.
A Typical SERP for ‘San Francisco’

As you know that the position of your website/webpage on the search-results page is very important in bringing quality and converting traffic to your site, so SERPs ranking is now an important part of SEO.
There are several hundreds of SERP-tools available on the Internet, which claim to give you detailed information about the SERPs for different keywords. So, finding the BEST-SERP tool is quite a difficult task. But my job has been made a lot easier, as this tool belongs to the Search Engine Giant itself: Google.

If you are registered at Google-Webmaster-Tools, then simply log in to it, and go to the recently updated “Top Search Queries” section of the website (under “Your site on the web”). In this section, now you can see the number of impressions given by various keywords/phrases and how many of these impressions got converted to visits (click through).

You might have noticed that different TLDs of Google (,, etc.) give different results page for the same search query (depending on many factors, like your demographics etc.) and even the same TLD keeps on changing the position of the results.
Now, Google has made it easy to filter those results. Instead of the data from all the countries, you can select a single country from the top drop-down menu. And by simply clicking on a specific keyword/phrase you can see the details, like in which position how many impressions got converted to visits.
Finally according to your observations you should then focus on optimizing your blog/website for the popular keywords/phrases. Three simple strategies to improve your ranking on SERPs for the popular keywords/phrases are;
   (1) Write more articles on that topic.
   (2) Try to use that specific word/phrase in the titles of your articles.
   (3) Include the most popular keywords/phrases (receiving maximum impressions and not necessarily having a high value of click through) in your meta description and keywords tags.

NOTE: Although you may see the changes/improvements within a month too, but to get a significant level of optimization you should experiment with these strategies for at least 4-6 months.

  1. Hmm…Divya…I have to be patience. Right? πŸ˜€ I will wait for it. 50% page are indexed in Google πŸ™‚ And thanks for the info…

  2. Hi again Divya,

I always remember you when I get trouble. Today also I remember you because I get into SEO trouble.

Google already crawl my recent posts. I checked it's URL in search engines. It's show but, it doesn't show my post content. It only show the yahoo smiley which I have added a month ago in the comment form. For detail see below picture:

What can I do to remove this problem? Google is not showing my post content in their search engines πŸ™ They are showing other nonsense content instead of my post content.

Can I add a meta tag for it. It is not possible to add meta tag to all post of my blog. So, what can I do for it??

  3. Hi Anup,

I will be more than happy to help you…in whatever way I can.
Actually the article sreenshot you have sent to me is a latest one from your blog, so there are a lot of chances to store irrelevent keywords by Google for that specific post, gradually it will check the article completely and will show the correct text from your post.
For example, just now I have performed the same Google search that you have done: "10 smart ways to protect your blog from hackers", and the text below the title that I saw was your blog's meta-description. So already Google came to know that the result which was shown to you is not the best part of that post, in fact it was shown to you cause that part of the post has the maximum no. of words matching with your query.

Anyways, it's good that you got your blog checked by me, as I noticed quite a serious problem in your meta-description tags; problem of descrition/title duplication may/already have arised in your blog, rectify it using this tutorial:
Duplicate Meta Description and Titles Issues In Blogger

and as you have asked for a meta tags for the entire posts of your blog, then you may use dynamic-meta-tags, but I don't actually suggest them, as they my also give some errors of short-description tags sometimes, anyways have a look on that tutorial here:
Dynamic Meta Tags For Blogger/BlogSpot Blogs

  4. Divya,

Thank you very much for taking time to help me. I'm very happy to you πŸ™‚

And I known that it takes time to Google to crawl specific keywords. And also got it back πŸ™‚

I done my meta customization as you said. Hope my SEO optimization will improved πŸ™‚

  7. I'm a huge fan of Google Webmaster Tools. For more than just checking ranks too, it can show you duplicate content issues, average page load times, 404's and a bunch of other interesting data. It's one of the best ways to see how your site is performing. Also of note is Bing's Webmaster Tools. Same concept, different search engine.
